Items made of that are usually stamped with the info. ~
SS will also attract magnets less or not at all (just tried that!)

Some, but not all Stainless Steels are non magnetic.Most tools and knives are marked as to the material.
If it's magnetic, get a sample wet and see if it rusts.
If it's not, it's probably S.S.

I have stainless appliances in my kitchen, and I was surprised to learn they are not magnetic, maybe You could use that as a test.

check the bottom of the pot for the stamp
