I'm of the opinion (as are quite a few) that it's the entire rap/gangster rap ghetto culture that has been so emulated for years (which is a symptom of a greater problem). Before this fad came along, this was never an issue. As a musician who plays Rock, classical, jazz (etc) it's always seemed to me that this genre developed out of a cultural despair. Rather than study and learn the skills needed to produce real music, or perform a real skill in life, it's so much easier to embrace a lifestyle and *art* that requires no training, and emulates a way of life that so many youths are doomed to be stuck in anyway. Part of that lifestyle is the treating of people (especially woman) as inconvenient objects to be used and the glorification of killing to prove yourself.
I suppose it's understandable. It seems much harder to claw your way to the top than it used to be even twenty years ago. This is all symptomatic of a society that is in the process of giving up.
I know I won't get best answer for this, but you're right, this is a problem.

There a just a lot of people out there who feel that there is no other choice. Through a warped sense of self, they become someone else ... a martyr. They take vengence into their own hands.
Years and years may pass without a school shooting, but there is always someone out there who feels alienated and feels that they can even the score by doing what some others have done ... killing peers at school.

Because not all the people who go to College- are without problems. And maybe there should be some new "tests" that kids should take when they graduate high-school, to see if they're emotionally "stable" enough to handle the Academic Life & freedoms of being on their own- at College.

i read about this in the news before along with several incidents such as studen/teacher rapes, violences, suicide, and murdur ( the virginia tech incident). maybe the cause of this is stress, fitting in, and immaturity. i think teachers and parents should get more involved in schools activites.

Kids are becoming more and more violent because their families and schools no longer teach good values.
