WASHINGTON - The House voted narrowly Thursday to reverse a ban on contraception aid to groups overseas that offer abortions, a pillar of President Bush's foreign aid policy.

"Bush is likely to swiftly veto the proposal and be upheld by conservative lawmakers who say no assistance of any kind should be given to organizations that promote or offer abortions."

If Satan would just stop vetoing all the good stuff coming out of Congress, maybe the peons will stop thinking of Congress as "do nothing".

They do plenty, but there's no way to get anything good done with the Grand Redneck in office. If only Barbara had believed in abortions..

I know, man. When he vetoed the stem-cell research, I was very upset. The man just put science back two decades. Welcome to the 80s. Go Thundercats.

For a few moments the Democrats acted like Democrats

It was freedom loving refreshing

Now if they can just make a habit of standing up for traditional Democratic Party principles & values
(the ones Clinton sold to Corporate America )

they might really get it started

Please

the house has actually passed the vast majority of what they said they would in their 100 hours... quite a bit of legislation...

a much brisker pace than even attempted by the last congress...

but senate has some problems with the super majority rules and all... but they've gotten several bills on Bush's desk though, most have been vetoed...

while maybe this hasn't been the most productive congess so far... it's far from "do nothing"

Skip 742 is absolutely right about getting us of the war in Iraq! That was one of the main issues!
The next main issue is these ridiculous ROBBER BARON oil and gas prices!
The other main was the out sourcing of American Manufacturing; manufacturing jobs and American Technology over seas.
Leaving us on verge of becoming a three world economy.

That is what they were voted in for and what have they done about any of those main three big issues! Absolutely nothing!

I've always wondered, well not really wondered, but felt strongly that if Bush or one of his co-Hort's had a daughter that got pregnant and the guy was not one of the up-standing members of their particular, insular group, if "gee" maybe abortion isn't such a bad idea after all. if you are against abortion, then you should stand against it regardless of the sperm donor. would Bush do so? so it's so incredibly hypercritical - the entire argument and support against abortion by men in power.

It's none of our business if foreign countries allow abortions.
If it's the single most important issue to Republicans, then we should refuse to do any business whatsoever with any country that allows contraception, abortions, or isn't Christian.
Don't be halfassed.
Oh, but wait! That could cost the corporations money losing all those markets and not being able to import anything from them like, umm, oil!
Hypocrites and pharisees, all!

Hooray Congress. Send more of our tax dollars overseas to line the pockets of corrupt officials. I think that proposal could use a good vetoing.

Congress is just as corrupt as Bush is, they only do things that make them look good, that they can profit from, or that they will get some form of publicity from.
