I don't understand what the singer is trying to say. In the first 2 verses, he says that he understands that there's a lot of gossip in their town and that he doesn't believe the rumors about her cheating on him. And in the chorus, he says that even if they ARE true, he understands that she's "under the gun." But at the same time, the chorus also acknowledges that she IS "taking it on the run." Then in the 3rd verse, he talks about how he knows that she's lying and getting dressed up to go see another man. He says, "if you leave, keep running." But in the repeat of the chorus, it again says "I don't believe it, not for a minute." So does he think she's cheating or not? It sounds like he can't make up his mind. The song doesn't make sense. Please explain...
