Why is it that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, no matter how much time has passed it still hurts like the pain was caused just yesterday....?

It's just the way life goes, my dog died 5 months ago, and I was crying hysterically yesterday and I couldn't sleep. You'll get better, I promise.
