You're young, have some fun while you can. You may want the extra cash now, but it's much easier to get a job when you've got a license and the transportation to do it yourself. Legal ages are different depending on where you work. I live in PA, and I remember busing as a kid (I think you need to be 15?) and places like McDonalds will hire at 14. But if you really want the job, show her you're smart and responsible. At least tell her you'll start working in small increments so you'll have more time to 'study' (who does that during the summer?) ( :
You're not too young to understand what real work is. Getting a job when you're young just helps you get experience to get hired for other things when you get a little older. Also, show her the things you'll learn- respect for working for your own money and how you'll treat that money, making sure you're at work on time...things like that.
I'm sure you can woo her with a few clever words.
Good luck!

Do as your mother said concentrate on your studies start learning the next years lessons and then when the new year starts ask for the year end tests pass those test and advance to the next year and show your mother that you are smart enough to advance in your studies then maybe you are advanced enough to get a job and still be an outstanding student. you could also put together a list of companies that hire people(s) under 16 years of age. You can also put together a resume of the things you are able to do that would attract you to an employer. NOTE you should go to your mother and ask for her help and say something like Mom can you help me put together a resume and just what should I put on that resume I have no experience at anything because you won't let me get a part time job how am I ever going to be ready for the work force in the next couple of years if I have no experience are you going to support me for ever. and she will say no! And you need to say then maybe it is time to start letting me make my own money and grow up and get ready for the world. Because you won't be hear for ever and I need to grow up and become a productive member of society.

Well you can get a job at 15, but you have to get a work permitt from the BMV. And I am pretty sure your legal guardian has to sign off saying its ok. First you have to show her that you are responsible. Make sure you're doing things around the house wihthout being told. Like keeping your room clean, dishes, laundry, emptying garbage cans, stuff like that. Once she's seen you're making an effort, explain to her that you are only wanting a summer job so you can be independent in making your own money and won't always have to ask for some from her. Tell her you still feel your studies are first priority, thats why you only want a summer job. Ask her to let you give it a try, and if it doesn't work out you can always quit.

Well start off by telling your mother that you feel that you should start earning you own money for extra things that you want to buy and that she should not have to always give you money to do that. Then figure out a savings plan, how much you will put away and save for the future out of every paycheck. This will help her see that you are not doing this just to have money for junk. Then you can tell her how you feel that it's time for her to start spending her money on the nicer things in life that she wants instead of spending it on you. You need to show her that you have a plan and that this is to help with the cost of the future so she will not have to have so much in the end. Trust me parents love to hear that you are going to help pay for things like weddings and college.

Well, maybe its the way you bring up the subject when you talk to her.
Try not to whine or beg her. Just speak to her in a mature manner and tell her that you would like to at least try and see if you can get a job and that you will be learning to be responsible and that it would be good training for the future for you.
Tell her its only for the summer and after that you will get back to focussing on your studies.
Show her that you are just trying to make your way in life and its more than i can say for young people these days. You should be proud of yourself whatever the outcome because there arent many like you around.
All the best!!

I think wanting a summer job already shows that you are responsible. I think you need to make a presentation to display to your mother. Include a list of reasons you feel you are mature enough to have the responsibility. A good point to make is that girls do mature faster than boys. You need to be prepared when talking with her. Have the answers ready as she asks the questions. You need to contact your local job services office to find out the law on age and working. Most places will allow you to get a work permit at age 14. Other good points to make to your mother are: A summertime job will allow you to work on your life skills. It will also allow you to work on your social skills and target ways to get along in different situations. You could buy your own school clothes and supplies. - I'm not going to give you anymore ideas, I think you are probly smart enough to take it from here.Good Luck !

tell her it'll look good on your resume for when you actually need a job to support you throughout life when you're older-my mom did this to me too and it was really hard for me to find a job because i had almost zip experience-luckily i did though-i am only 19 right now. anyway, tell your mom that-and that you don't want to be sitting around all summer when you could be earning your own money. parents can be a strange bunch-they won't buy you things that you want and they tell you to save up for them, and yet they won't allow you to have a job in order to save up-i will never understand lol. parents don't know what they want half the time.

I am a young parent and trust me I know what you are going through, but really your mom is right you will have plenty of time to start a job. Just relax and take advantage of the situation. NO JOB NO KIDS NO RESPONSIBILITY. Believe me once you get started with those things you can never look back no matter how much you will want to.

For a 'real' job you would have to be 18 at least.
You could possibly get a McJob at 16, (Fast Food).
At your age, try baby-sitting, dog-walking, grass-mowing.
In other words, temporary, cash on the barrel, jobs.
Lots of people need odd-job help in the summer.
You could feed pets, water plants, house-sit.
But you need to be really careful about the people.
Make sure your parents check them out first.

There are plenty of jobs you can get at 15 although there are child labor laws which govern how many hours a week you can work and such.
Barring a regular job, maybe you can mow lawns or wash windows or baby sit...or is she opposed to that, too?!
Geez! You think a parent would be PROUD their kid wanted to get out there in the work force!
