I do....
They are aggravating because nothing is ever good enough. They are also usually control freaks because "nobody else can do it as well as I can".

I avoid them at all costs. Humans are imperfect & it is an imperfect world. Perfection is impossible!!

Extremely detailed and focused is great - "perfectionist" is not good. The world isn't and will never be perfect. That will be very frustrating to someone who demands perfection. Demand excellence and you will be much happier. You will never reach perfection.
The other bad thing about SOME people who claim to be perfectionists is that they use that excuse to nit-pick, be unreasonably demanding and to try to account for a really poor level of tolerance toward others. When I was a manager and heard one of my staff refer to themself as a perfectionist, my first instinct is that the person is a pill who can get whiny when they don't get everything their way and is also someone in the workplace who "doesn't play well with others". 99% of the time, my first instinct was correct and these people would just drain me. The other thing about my "perfectionists" is that they had poor time management skills, put in a lot more time at work than they needed to and whenever they made a mistake, they blamed the process or other people.

I married a perfectionist--and found that he expected ME to be perfect--in his definition! That I please HIM--all the time! This, of course, was impossible. But he was also an alcoholic, so I never knew one trait from the other! I had to leave with our little girl for a decent life. Maybe being a perfectionist who expects perfection of him/herself is OK--but I'd think it'd be exhausting! It's not OK for them to expect and demand perfection of others!

It can be good to a certain extent. But you cant always be perfect. And when you are a perfectionist, you always need everything to be perfect and when its not, you are disappointed. In life, things will always go wrong. So you have to accept that.

oh why its a bad trait, well they can be stuck on 1 goal and never accomplish it. its like writing the perfect story. well they can go through a million rewrites and never get a publishing. its a goal that never ends and kinda wack striving all of life on 1 goal and never completing it so they never have anything accomplished.

It's both a good and a bad trait. it's good because you try your best to do something as accurately and as nearly perfect as possible. it's debilitating bahaviour as well because you set expectations of yourself that are unrealistic and upon not reaching or going above your expectations you can feel unsatisfied or inadequate. just do your best with everything.
