I have lived in the city of Toronto for 7 yrs now I have never heard anyone called a dergoatory racial name - except by people who are clearly mentally unstable Everyone has health care There are free shelters for the homeless healthcare included pschiatric care as well
I have never seen anyone denied a job or a promotyion based
on sexual orientation religion colour or political opinion
I have never seen a hand gun (although hand gun crimes do happen) - But not once have I seen a pistol a rifle or anything of the sort - When I go out at night to walk the dog - I expect to be just fine When I walk through a "black" nieghbourhood I do not need any protection and I do not need to worry - There are no area's of this city that police do not or can not walk around in Black Asian and other officers are visably seen and or recruited Gay and lesbians are sought out to join the police forceLaw order and are established the Charter of freedoms and rights is respected
Can you say the same?

Your just upset that America sided with France durringthe Napoleonic wars thinking they would help you beat the better British soldier in the war of 1812 when you tried to take over Canada

We beat you back then and it took us 20 minutes to defeat the French at the Plains of Abraham

So for the last century or so you have tried to blame your failure on the French -

Not my problem

If I sold it as a Utopia I apoligise for it -

It is not - there are many things I would like to see and so forth

The rich who do go to the US (some of my family included ) for health care services do not like the idea of a Dr. putting them in a cue based on what the Dr. thinks is thier need and therefore there status - So they jump the cue by going to the US because they can
Others who are in genuine need and so forth - well that happens as well - and if that can be proven or a Dr says this is the case the Province will pick up part of the bill - This happens rarely that a Dr will say such a thing - politics of that statement are obvious - lots of hot water for someone -The majority is however the rich who don't like to be told - so there is little sympaythy in the public for them Nonetheless in comparison to specialized medicne/equitment we are far behind the US As to stats - look for yourself Even if I did produce them it would be an argument about validity

The important thing to remember is that racism has mutated from overt racism to covert racism. Now, instead of shooting down black people with water hoses, they'll deny them loans, housing, jobs, etc. They'll ignore history. It's all done covertly. No one wants to be called a racist, but those in power are going to do what they can to keep their own kind in power.

America has a long way to go.

You speak only of what you see, how about some verified statistics? We can then compare apples to apples instead of your clearly subjective and obviously biased opinions. Frankly, you sound pretty self righteous and bigoted yourself.

You may have many of those things but, for example, why do so many of your people with government provided health care cross to the US for health services if they can afford it? Perhaps your system isn't any more perfect than any other. There are many other examples I can quote. My real question is: You have your imagined Utopia, but at what cost? Over time, no socialist or socialized country has succeded. Every one has failed and millions always suffer terribly for it.

Black people have, for the most part, been intentionally made a permanent underclass in the United States of America....very much for the same reasons alcoholism and unemployment run rampant through so many reservations.....Hispanics and Arabs wear the bulls-eye in 2007.

It's American racism to oppress and break an entire people to prove the point that "those people aren't as good"....... "they're welfare freeloaders", "they're unAmerican".

America is a vicious, racist country that in a politically correct fashion intertwines within the fabric of American society an unspoken quiet, indelible racism that overlaps with and weaves together much of the conservative movement.

The US - Mexican border is a hot spot for accepted, politically correct racism in 2007. Every group that doesn't have pink skin gets a turn on the American Wheel of Racism.

Did you notice that NALEO, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials asked all of the presidential candidates, Democrat and Republican, to speak to the nation's largest gathering of Hispanic elected officials at their upcoming June gathering.

Every Democratic presidential candidate accepted the offer to speak at the gathering. Every Republican candidate refused. Politically correct racism

we could take some lessons from your country in this area. How I wish I could walk down my street without fear or something happening. I saw(the only eye witness) a young man shot by two others in the hallway of my apartment building. In a quarter mile area from my doorway I know of 13 deaths due to guns in the last year and a half. I live in Lauderhill, Florida

I think America is very good. Yes there are still some issues with race and class in the USA, but I think we are level with Canada. I think the USA and Canada are the two best when it comes to cross culture relations and we are light years ahead of Europe which is having serious troubles with segregation poverty and racism.

I can say the same where I live in New Jersey. We do crack jokes but its only good natured. I have never felt in danger when around minorities and I am 100% comfortable befriending them.

I have known this for a while, but...except for the cold weather, there seems to be a lot to like about Canada! Canada seems to be more evolved than the US, in several ways! But, we could catch up, if we really wanted to, and there are more than a handful of us who do want to! *sm*
