NAR is an OPTIONAL trade group.
No membership is required.
As long as you have access to your local MLS, you've got everything you need.

The PUBLIC makes absolutely, positively no distinction between a REALTOR and a REAL ESTATE AGENT.

NEITHER DO I!

He can be a licensed agent and not be a member of NAR, he cannot call himself a "Realtor".

I'm not sure he can maitain his local membership and not be a member of NAR or his state board and this could be clarified at the local level.

Usually your State and National dues come from your board. Here our board sends us our bills and they pay the State Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors out of that. So check with your board. Or does he specifically get a bill from NAR? I dont think it is possible to belong to a board and not NAR.
