Back in the 1950s, the "Cobalt Bomb" was publicized as the ultimate doomsday weapon, the idea behind it being that it would generate so much dangerously active radioactive material that eventually all mankind would die from it. Are you listening, world terrorists?

If we're talking wiping out mankind through poisoning the environment - sure, we have enought bombs to do that.
but as far as destroying the whole planet... Lucky for us, we aren't even close. The Tsunami in Indian ocean was caused by an earthquake 1,000 times more powerful than the biggest bomb ever made.
If the Earth was hit by an asteroid 15 miles across, that sure wouldn't be pleasant, but that wouldnt' destroy the planet, right. The force of such impact is 50,000 greater than the Tsunami Earhquake.
My guess would be that to destroy a planet, we'd have to build a bomb at least 1 trillion times more powerful than the biggest bomb we have today.
So we should be ok for the next 20 years or so :)

With a nuclear bomb made of Uranium there is both a lower limit and an upper limit to the yield. The lower limit is because of the need for a critical mass and the upper limit occurs because the explosive could blow away the Uranium (see the link).
A hydrogen bomb has the same lower limit, but it has no upper limit!
You could make an H-bomb of any size!
(assuming you have the fissile material, deuterium, a team of Nobel-Prize winning scientists, and a government willing to give to many billions of dollars).
Edit: To be explicit -- YES, YOU COULD MAKE A BOMB THAT COULD BLOW AWAY THE WHOLE GOD DAMNED PLANET!

Tsar Bomba (Russian: ЦаÑÑ-бомба, literally "Emperor Bomb") is the Western name for the largest, most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated. Developed by the Soviet Union, the bomb had a yield of about 50 megatons and it was codenamed Ivan by its developers.
The bomb was tested on October 30, 1961, in Novaya Zemlya, an archipelago in the Arctic Sea. The device was scaled down from its original design of 100 megatons to reduce the resulting nuclear fallout.

Yes. It's been stockpiled for years. Not a blueprint. You should check Wikipedia and do a patient study as this is a protracted subject. I think a 120 Megaton thingy is the planet killer but I haven't looked at it in a while.

i dont think so that there is that kind of bomb but what i know is that if there is a very large bomb detonated, its consequenes can kill all human but not the bomd it self or its destroying effect.
i dont think that one would like to make that bomb because simply that human will kill himself , if he made that bomb to kill his enemies then he succeded but he ll c his enemies in hell soon, so no country would risk forming that bomb on earth, if it can be formed in the first place, it may be just a theory.
dont worry because if all humans die then this may be doomsday, just what i know doomsday will not just appear as of a sudden but there are signs.
