I bought some bed sheets for a deep mattress I have but they don't fit because i forgot to factor in the featherbed i have over my pillowtop, I cannot exchange them for the next bed size up because I have a king already. The company does not do returns for this reason, and the whole bedset was $3000...is there anyone who knows about sewing who could tell me if it is possible to take these to someone and have a few inches of fabric added to the bottom so these fit over my mattress correctly? They are made of Modal and Silk....is this possible to have done or will there be too much stress on the seams?

WOW !! $3000 for a bedset. I'm a Sewer from way back and anything is possible. YES...they can be altered to fit you mattress. Take them to a seamstress and let them know how many inches that need to be added and they could do it. No- if done properly with double/triple stitching and a good zig-zag for re-enforcement they will be fine.
Good Luck !!

Yep, It's possible, and not very difficult to do either...if you sew~I do. Whoever you get to do it for you will just have to cut off the excess (length wise) of the top sheet and re-hem it. You could even do that part and have it ready~use one of the twin sheets you already have to get the size you want, then cut it off about an inch wider, then turn it over and press it over a 1/4~1/2 inch with your iron~do that twice so you'll have a finished edge that can just be sewn real quick. It will depend how the fitted sheet is made~whether the elastic runs~ all the way around it or just the top edge~but the same general idea. Actually, to make it even simpler, you could just buy a set of twin sheets that match your new comforter:) Most of the sheets that come with the sets are a solid color anyway. You might not have to do anything with the comforter~it will just hang down a little farther, but not too much actually, and you probably won't even notice the difference in a twin vs a full. Before you buy your set though, check on eBay. I buy all of my bedding on there, and get some excellent deals~you might just get lucky!! Good Luck!!

If it only a few inches.. I would suggest mattress/sheet fasteners...Most stores sell them in the bedding dept.. .They look like little mini suspenders and you hook them to your sheets so they don't get pulled off... They stretch so they might work depending on how tight the fit truly is.. In the future keep the measurements of your mattress handy in your purse on in a file so that when you buy sheets this doesn't happen again...
