Whatever you can manage to sneak past your parent's - try finding something with a "cute" picture on the front of it.
But first, good luck trying to buy an "M" rated game in the first place - most stores have a strict policy preventing kids from buying these games. And even stores that don't STILL aren't likely to sell to anyone as young as 13!
Games with this rating are "intense" for a reason - that is the audience they are intended for...

I would say any horror game out now. Most 13 year old can handle horror. Resident Evil 4 is a great choice or the entire Resident Evil series. The Silent Hill series is also a good choice. Fatal Frame and Clock Tower are more good choices. Make sure you stay away from the GTA series. It's a good game but may be to racy for a 13 year old. Try Bully instead. what's good about it is that it's Rated T.
EDIT: The kid didn't ask if you think he should get one or not. He asked if he were to get one which should he get. If you think He shouldn't get an M rated game keep it to yourself cause he didn't ask.

I would totally go with Resident Evil 4. There's nothing in it that's more intense/gory than most PG-13 movies out there, and the plot is something your dad might actually approve of (rescue the president's daughter). Silent Hill is cool too, but probably a little too intense. Dude that game scares the crap out of me and I'm 23 years old (though I do play it in the dark with the surround sound kickin'). At any rate, if your dad walked in on you playing that one he'd probably take it right back. Same with God of War.

None I agree 17+ is the remanded age unless your parents agree with letting you play 'M' games and so far that dose not sound likely so I am not going to give you an answer to this first respect your parents wishes but I would go with resident evil I have not played 24 so I am not sure, but defiantly not god of war it would not be a good one to start out light. Like you said just encase they have a change but until then none

Man, 13 year olds are not supposed to ever play M rated games, theres a reason those are M rated.
M rated = 17+

company of heroes is a good first M rated game although the videos could be a bit too intense in the campaign.
the game needs a pretty good pc too.

try halo 1 or 2 and if you can get the multi-player map pack for more split-screen fun.(halo2 only). it has only a few bad words and that's the worst. and has blood and don't forget the aliens are ugly.
