iPods are easy to use, I have a shuffle. But the music is expensive and you cannot use the m4p files that an iPod uses on any other player.
I would suggest you save some money and get a different brand that plays mp3 files. That way you can covert all your CDs or download mp3 files that are much more user friendly in terms of what you can do with them.
Many brands of mp3 players are expandable using SD cards so you can actually carry a few extra cards with you and always have fresh music.
iPods are cool, sure. But convenience and practicality are worth something too.

I have an ipod shuffle (second generation) and i love it!!!!
They are easy to get music on to, i figured it out w/o instructions in 10 mins. Tracks that are free are generally illegal so i would not steer you in that path. On itunes music is usually 99 cents a track and maybe 10 dollars for a whole album. Podcasts are always free!!!!!! Plus the shuffles are so cute, get green like me!!!!

well not all the tracks are free. when you get the ipod you might wanna get the itunes card too. then go to your computer, go to itunes, look for the way to get the code from the card into the computer. then, there is a little box over to the upper right with a amount of cash. thats your cash that you got from that card. the more cards you buy the more cash you get. once you reviewed that, go to "itunes store" then select music.go to the search box, which is just on top of your cash amount. type in a artist or band you want a track of. then for example once it shows what you found, it has a box of tracks from the disc you should have found after you typed in the band or artist. then it says [most of the time] for one single track, $0.99. for an album its more than 1 dollar. if this is too confusing tell me.

Music is EXTREMELY easy to put onto an iPod through iTunes. Basically you put a check next to it, and everytime you connect your iPod it syncs (adds it). The music on iTunes is not free, though. If you're looking for free music, try a service like LimeWire, then just add the songs to iTunes. Just know that downloading copywrighted stuff from LimeWire and others like it is illegal.

The tracks are easy to download from iTunes but they cost money. On the flip side, it's legal and safe (free of viruses).

However, I am not happy with Apple iPod products. I would suggest that you get a Sansa SanDisk (or any Creative Zen product) and hook up with Yahoo Music. Not sure about the Sansa, but Yahoo Music is compatible with Creative Zen products.

i have 2 ipod shuffles and they are easy to fill with music. Just plug it in and import all the songs you want. And no, the songs on itunes are NOT free except for the free songs that they have available every tuesday.

me, my cousin and my uncle both have the ipod nanos, my mom and my other uncle has the ipod videos, and my little brother and my little cousin both have the ipod shuffles....and NONE of us are experts at computers.

all you have to do is download itunes and get yourself an itunes card from walmart. and buy some songs. after you download the songs that you wanted, just click on the songs and drag them to your ipod(shown on the side of the screen on itunes[when you plug the ipod into the computer]).

It's pretty easy, just drag the music to your ipod icon on itunes. Music is not free from itunes, i think it costs $.99 per song.

It's simple, when you buy the shuffle, you install itunes. Songs are usually 99 cents, so buy an itunes card. You just look up the songs.

Well
iTunes is an audio and video player that lets you manage your iOS devices as well as download content from the iTunes store.
I found a free download of it here http://j.mp/1rt6kAE
It's amazing.
