I meant after washing. I just washed them at my moms....she smokes... and brought them back to my dads, and febreeze isn't working well at getting the smell out.

This is coming from an ex-smoker. I never heard of taking clothes out of a washer and bringing them home and they smell of smoke?? If they were at the smoker's house for a while yes they will smell of smoke.

I live in a private house. There are 3 tenants. One tenant smokes and believe it or not when I take a towel out of my linen closet I will be damned I can smell the smoke in the towels. What I do now is place dryer sheets in all my closets and drawers. I use a lot of dryer sheets plus I have the stickups in the closets.

I stopped after 42 years of smoking because I just couldn't stand the smell anymore. And it is the truth what they say that there is nothing worse than an ex-smoker.

It must be really strong if Febreeze is not working...that stuff usually works pretty good.

I 've used a cup of vinegar to take the smell out of a room, but not sure how it works on clothes...suggest you try a light mixture and wash them.

Good luck!

If the clothes are "clean" and they just smell like smoke turn them inside out and hang them outside to dry. A little fresh air should help get rid of the smell...

Your Mom's ciggy smoke is probably impregnated in the washer and dryer as well as the house, so you will probably have that problem when you wash your clothes there.

Add a little Borax in your wash and it will take any lingering smell out.

good luck!

Wash them, but add vinegar to the wash. It will get rid of any cigarette smell.

it also depends on the fiber content...polyester will hold a smell forever, odors do not come out of polyester easy. i work with people who smoke a lot and i'm usually with them on their smoke breaks, and i wash my clothes with gain joyful expressions, the liquid kind...before that i used the tide liquid that had the downy in it...i can't smell the smoke...also try rewashing them at YOUR house, where the smell can't get back on them... maybe that will help...

don't visit your mum untill she respects your right for a healthy life-if she doesn't respond to your satisfaction---no loss--if she's helping send you to the grave early
