Why are most politicains two faced? i am watching an edition of Question time and the way they say they opposed the war in Iraq as if they did, i remember most politicians backing it and now they say they didnt and use some mumbo jumbo terminology to try and convince us. What we need is someone who tells us the truth - a prime minister who acts responsibly and puts his hands up when he is wrong - unlike our CURRENT one. What will Brown be like?

Because enough of the voting public has such a short attention span that placating them with the rhetoric of the moment - even when it's hypocritical - is enough to get reelected.

Welcome UK from US. We have some double standards here. I always admired Tony Blair for his commitment . Like my President. Iraq is a melting pot for transporting insurgent groups from one place to another as they travel with no border control. I firmly believe that force was and is necessary for world security that we stop these people as much as we can right now.
Terrorist have come on your island and hit our shores. A passe approach would only escalate the idea we are all vulnerable. You guys have fought the IRA for ever, u know Civil Wars can escalate.
So when you feel annoyance at Blair here lies one American eternally grateful for his assistance to my country. I hope he takes on the Middle East negotiator position Bush is now promoting .
As to your man Brown. I apologize, I just don't know. Thank you so much. Cheers.
* Two faced can be the politician and the fund raiser? The man and the cause? They are all like that. Globally, nothing new.

Because they have no choice. They all no doubt have ideals they aspire to when they come to office. And endeavor, to begin with, to enforce these dreams. But after a while it soon becomes clear why nobody has managed to achieve the impossible before. You have no real control over what you do. All you can do is try to predict and respond to the limitations of the money system we govern ourselves by. To effect real change. You have to change the system. And how better than to adopt a totally money less society. Everything free. We simply do the work. And everything is free. Simple really. Piss-up in a brewery.

Because being a politician is their job. They want to make money, like every other working person. They try to appeal to all sides in hopes of prolonging their career. It's hypcritical, and they almost always come out looking like an idiot, but it usually works for a while, until it catches up with them.

I wouldn't say that politicians are two faced, I would say they treat the world with contempt, never give a straight answer, and give pond life a bad name!

They know it, but they vote Democrat anyway.

Because they have to please most of the people all of the time to get elected and that's a very hard thing to do and tell the truth 100% of the time.

I think it is because they try to satisfy 100% of the people or close to it. They want job security and are willing to sacrifice their beliefs for it.

Because it works for them. The public 'buys it'. People hear what they want to hear and ignore the rest.
