What a situation, I assume his daughter is under age and as a parent myself I can understand his concerns, but, the decision has to be his daughters. No-one has the right to force an abortion on anyone, it is so traumatic for the person involved. I have never agreed to terminations, yet many years ago I found myself in this situation, it broke my heart and I vowed that whatever direction my life took I would never have another child, how could I when I had "killed" my baby.I was sterilised the following year, I already had two wonderful kids, a failed marriage, how could I give my baby the life it deserved. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I could easily have managed three children, but then it was the right decision for me. I have lived with the guilt for 25 years, a burden I wouldn't advise any girl to endure. I hope this has helped you understand why people have terminations and why, as parents, we only want what we think is best for our children.

i am pro choice but im also a hypocrite.

i believe everyone is entitled to make their own choices up until a certain point in pregnancy, for me that point is around 12 weeks. in the uk abortion is legal up until 24 weeks which disgusts me as a baby is viable at this point - with a little medical help if born prematurely, it may survive.

2nd trimester abortion because the child is unplanned/unwanted is wrong. i recently found out that when a late abortion is carried out that there is a small chance that baby will be delivered alive, because the mother has made the choice to abort it, if the baby is alive after the procedure, they do not save it. they administer "comfort care" which entails the baby being wrapped in a blanket and kept warm until it passes away. how this is comfortable i will never know and the very thought sickens me.

there is also cases where these aborted babys survive against all odds, google gianna jessen - the little girl who was aborted, survived and now has to live with cerebal palsy. or ana rosa - another little girl who was aborted through a partial birth abortion and now lives her life with only 1 arm because it was torn off during the procedure.

medical reason is a whole different ball game and that i do not know enough about to comment on. below is some links, read them and see how sickening these late term abortions can be. at 33 weeks pregnant is almost reduces me to tears to think of these children

Depends on her age-if she's like 12 then I can totally understand his reasons (although I certainly don't condone abortion, I could see his form of reasoning behind his decision) or, if she conceived her baby by force (ie rape)

But, from the moment a girl/woman falls pregnant, she becomes a woman. She and she alone has the final word, and nobody can make her do anything she doesn't feel she wants to do.

When did 'force' ever truly resolve anything?

Abortion is a very emotive subject as you know. And many people advising will have their own agenda really.

Only she can decide (and live with the consequences). To do otherwise will never bring a proper resolution.

I hope the daughter reaches her decision without undue pressure and goes on to live a contented life.

completely wrong.at the end of the day its a human life and no one should play god and say whether it lives or dies.at the end of the day the baby cant say it wants to live. i myself at 23 have lost a son aged 6 weeks and 3 weeks ago miscarried my 2nd.it winds me up so much that ppl who can go on to have perfect babies just have an abortion.im sorry if u think im rude but after losin two my views on abortion are even stronger.a child has the right to get a chance at life.

Ur moms boyfriend can't say **** to her since it is her own body, But you gotta wonder how old is the daughter for the dad to be worrying. If the daughter is 15 and under, she wouldn't really know how to take care of a baby, anyway, but if she is 16 and older, she has some idea of how to do it for herself, and that is if she has younger brothers or sisters.

You don't evaluate the situation enough, such as how old she is, how many weeks pregnant she is, and if she is still in education.

It is totally her decision and her decision alone. Noone else should cloud her judgement. I've seen dozens of men on here who have coerced their partners into decisions they didn't want (especially keeping the pregnancy) and then they bugger off!

It seems you have very strong views on abortion. Keep them to yourself and let her work it out for herself. I'm sure she's got a strong right hook for when she needs it.

I believe in extreme cases abortion is a sensible option, for instance if i was raped and becamme prgenant i would deffo not want the baby, i now not thae babys fault but i cud not live with having a rapist child.

I also believe that abortions are the individuals choice No one should force anyone into it and i think it should not be so easy to have one, after all you could always give up for adoption if you did not want the child.

Personally i would not opt for abortion (except in rape instance) as i believe there is enough products and devices to stop unwanted pregnancies, and all stds.

(May get down voted for this but you asked for my opinion)

LETS THINk INTELLIGENTLY SHALL WE.

If she has the kid her life is runined if she has a baby early.

Life is about going to uni, travelling the world, building a carreer using your mind to be the best you can, developing that career which can include being a talented musician, artist, sports person, doctor, etc.

Its about all the parties, social life, being with various boy friends till you find somone specail not get stuck with somone as you got pregnant.

its about experiencing the world tand then when finacially secure with a steady home, steady realtioship, when you have done all you wanted to in life and gained experience in how to bring up a kid from seeing others succeed or fail.

Then and only then having one so it does not mess up your life and the kid will have the best chance of success and happiness.

Seems the boyfriend cares enough not to wan tto see his daughter end up on Trish or Jeremy Kyle, forced to live on some drug and gang rulled estate, her resnetful at the kid for all she missed out out, surviving on benfits and the kid ending up getting into drugs and gnags as little else going for him/her.

Most likely we are not talking alte term abortion most likely talking a vfew weeks if that when still effectively a bunch of cells and removed with a pill going back to her young life.

leaving motherhood till readdy.

thats the intelligent way of lookin at it.

heres another.

if the pro lifers really only cared about babies whydo they generally oppose all forms of artificial borth control?

Why are most supportive of religions that abuse kids and girls?

Why support thinking like go forth and multiply and big families given the housing crisis, lack or jobs, poluttion, global warming and animals going extinct as too many people?

Why is it your business? I agree that it should be the daughter's choice, but her father is perfectly at liberty to advise his daughter without either your opinion or those on Yahoo!answers. He's more aware of the consequences and financial situation than you are. Butt out.
