sometimes it makes things harder - but at least you respect yourself and others enough to tell the truth to being with. Best option, don't do anything you would have to lie about in the first place.

It really depends on what you define as "free". It also depends on what the consequences are of telling/discovering the truth. Are the consequences the "free" part, or is it the fact that the truth was told? It also depends on if you're talking about the person who's telling the truth or the person who discovers the truth. Another matter is the subject of the "truth"; If a buddhist told a Christian that his/her religion was a lie, is that really the "truth"? It depends.
