i've downloaded a non dvd crack for my game. how do i apply it so that it works and i can play?

It really depends on how it works - the two types I know are:

1) The crack provides replacement files - you put these into the game's directory, and overwrite the file(s) already there.

2) The crack is just one file - run this (provide the location where the game is installed if neccessary), and it will edit the needed files itself.
