Definitely the disappointment. You can always prove yourself and gain their confidence, but when you see that look in their eyes it seems like it takes a long time to get over it, on both sides.

Lack of confidence is hard to prove in my case as I would never handle or do something unless I know I can manage it.
But the look of disappointment is far wrose. It means you've let someone down. Sometimes that happens and hopefully your friend or family will understand.

The disappointment you see probably is their lack of confidence in you, don't you think?

Disappointment. The lack of confidence could come from them not knowing me. Disappointment is usually born of failure...theirs or mine....

The disappointment hurts far more... I feel awful when/if I let someone down who I care about...and I always wonder if things will ever be the same between us.

Disappointment is worse - I am used to being under-estimated and confidence can be gained.
