80s: Husker Du, Spacemen 3, Replacements, Jesus and Mary Chain, Metallica, Megadeth
90s: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mad Season, Tripping Daisy, Spiritualized, Primal Scream, Sugar, Tool, John Spencer Blues Explosion
In the end I have to say the 90s, when I got heavily into music. More of the 90s bands resonate with me.

MTV came along in the 80's and killed pop music. MTV made music something to look at and relate to, rather than just listen to. Like it or not, in the 90's the grunge bands bought back music, for the sake of listening to.
There were a lot of good albums in 1991-1995.
So my answer is obviously the 90s.

Definately 80's. the 90's had great Grunge and, Alternative bands but, the 80's had way more variety and, literally hundreds of bands from diferrent genres, that could be favored by an individual at any given time.

I like the eighties rock better. The nineties rock is good, but I think that the eighties rock is better because it still has some of the qualities of the rock from the sixties and seventies, but puts a new spin on it, whereas nineties rock has changed a lot. I like eighties music a lot so I like the rock from that decade, even though I grew up in the nineties.

the 80s. You forgot the toughest rocking, toughest partying band obtainable, Motley Crue. They redefined rock n roll as did many interior the 80s. some did interior the 90s, yet how a lot of those bands you indexed are nonetheless around? 80s hand down no opposition.

Kinda tough. Early 80s & early 90s were vital period for rock. (new wave /new British metal & grunge respectively)
I'd say 80s. 90s rock influence is still felt today, but unfortunate;y, its evolved into Very watered down emo & big biz pop punk.

i really couldn't pick between 80s vs. 90s. But, the brief period of time between the death of hair bands and the beginning of the grunge era... that was a really good time for rock music. kind of a cross between the two. it's when alternative bands made it big.... belly, the sundays, gin blossoms, cranberries, smashing pumpkins, etc. etc. But, when Nirvana came out... grunge was all you could hear.

It depends if you like guitar solos - if so, the 80s, if no, 90s.

80's is so much better. Most of the stuff that's out these days is crap. Most of todays music sounds the same. It's so hard to tell bands apart anymore.
