Honestly, I am not a physician but I would say no. I am terrified of the dentist and take zanex (a mild tranquilizer) to relax. When I was pregnant I couldn't take it, iv sedation is much stronger and I am surprised your dentist would recommend it. That is definitely something you should discuss with your doctor. But think about it it slows down your heart, so I would think it would have the same affect on your baby. Good luck!

This is not a good idea and I am surprised that he would want to do this since I am sure you have told him you are pregnant. If something happened to the baby he could be sued. I was pregnant and my dentist didnt even want to work (except cleanings) until I had the baby. I guess they are going to have to wiegh whether the procedure is worth doing(If you have a tooth infection or something that could get to the baby too so maybe this thing he wants to do is less risky than leaving the tooth alone???) Talk to your OBGYN Good luck!

I wouldnt think so. Even a local anisthetic isnt recommended for pregnant patients. Can the procedure wait untill baby is born?! Thats what I would suggest.

Ack! Talk to your Doctor! I would think if the dentist knew about your condition he would make an informed decision, or maybe it is okay - But I would double check with your MD or whomever you have looking after your pregnancy.

NOoooooo!!!!!! Talk to your OB and see what alternative he can use but absolutely not the iv, everything that goes in your blood stream goes straight to baby.

does your dentist know you're pregnant? tell him if he doesn't. dentists are doctors too, he will probably know if he can use it or not. depends on the drug he wants to use.
