I think they probably will be with Bill Gates involved in the whole thing. Usually if Bill Gates thinks it is going to happen it will, just like when he launced Microsoft 30 years ago. We have made a lot of advances in robotics the last few years, take Asimo for example. I personally think it will happen.

that depends on your definition of "robot". Frankly, they are in our lives now, so no doubt there will be more refined and sophisticated ones in twenty years.

It is a very strong possibility that robots will control our cars so we wont have to drive anymore and we will probably have more overweight peole as robots do everything. People will be out of work in jobs that require physical labor.

If you wake up at a certain time, go to work, pay a loan, "own" a house. you are already a robot that is part of a household. A very well made robot.

It really depends on what you define as a robot. I have a technical robot sitting next to me as I type this. It seeks its own food (solar energy) it utilizes its food (again, solar energy) to obtain more food, and it takes measures to ensure the preservation of its ability to obtain food (object avoidance, and a secondary "runaway" personality drive). All of these aspects satisfy the new laws of robotics, and I have built many, and given them as gifts, and kept a few as companions for my pets, yet not one of them is larger than a tennis ball. So, it really depends on eh eye of the beholders, but really, for me, that day has already come.

I don't think they will be in most homes because most peope just won't be able to afford them. Give it at least 50 years until they can manufacture them more efficiently and cheaply. If we last that long...
