my sister has acted like this for a long time now but recently it has gotten worse,( please dont tell me to get her help I have tried over and over and she dosnt want help, she dosnt think anything is wrong). Anyway the problem is that she likes to cause other people pain and likes to play sick ritualistic games, she likes to hurt others and then sit back and watch them suffer!! She hurts children too but she always covers her butt before any child service agencies can catch her, then when she gets away with it she braggs about how badly she hurt the innocent child. She just likes to play tourture games and then watch how the person or child reacts and you can see it in her eyes its like she gets off on it. And yes I have been around and witnessed this! I know what needs to be done I just want to know what might be wrong with her????? and what kind of person am I really dealing with here?

Oh wow, she sounds like my mother in law. I am not sure if is is schitzophrenia, or Bi-polar. I hope you warn any parents trying to leave their kids in her care. Good luck, my mother in law refuses to get help, she cannot see the damage she does to people and refuses to admit she has done anything wrong. Since she seems to know what she is doing, that makes it confusing...I think she is evil!

First of all, do NOT accept any of these answers as "truth." For a diagnosis she needs to be seen by an experienced psychologist.

Much more info needs to be taken into account, such as her relationships with other people. If you want to further research her problem you might want to try "Antisocial personality disorder."

Of most immediate concern is her hurting others, especially children. If you can, you should get evidence and report her. She will not get better without help, and if there is no way to convince her she needs help, then she should be able to get help through the justice system.

Beware that intervening may provoke her to hate you. But you seem to be in a unique position to prevent more suffering, so you have to do something.

The laymens term for her behavior is called sadism. It means to get gratification from the pain of others.

Your sister is dangerous. By sitting back and watching her hurt children YOU ARE AN ACCOMPLICE TO HER CRIME. That is not to mention the ethical implications. How can you sleep at night when you know your sister is abusing children?

You should do the responsible thing and make sure that what she is doing stops. If not for the children's sake or your sister's then for your own sake.

I know this is no longer believed to be true, but I beleive that evil spirits can inhabit people. My doctor and I agree that is why non of the anti-psychotic medications have ever worked for me.
Don't "pump her up with meds" - I lost 6 years of my life because of this.

I have been labeled with almost every single mental disoder 'available for diagnosing' and bipolar people do not typically act like this. Bipolar Disorder is extreme fluxuating moods from mania to depression and sometime hypo-mania.
Schizophrenia is sort of an 'umbrella term' for many psychotic disorders.
Look them up, but explore all causes - not just medical diagnoses.

The techcnical term is Anti-Social Personality Disorder. However that is just a polite way of saying someone is a sociopath, meaning they have no conscience
