My betta is extraordinarily picky and would starve before eating anything BUT bloodworms, so I generally feed him two before I leave for work, and two before I go to bed.

Resist the urge to overfeed. Your betta has a stomach the size of his eyeball, and you need to feed accordingly. I like to feed 3-4 pellets a day, usually at once. You could also spread out those pellets across the day, if you want more play time with your little pet. Your betta will snap these up and look for more. It's up to YOU to be strong and NOT keep feeding! :)

How often you feed him depends on how much you feed him. Some people choose to do it all at once, where some choose to split the amount in half. Really it just depends on what you want to do, so long as you don't overfeed it.

Please keep in mind that pellet food is fully nutritional, yet it contains a (sometimes alarming) percentage of ash, undigestible material. The pellets swell in water and are actually more food than they appear to be, so it is easy to overfeed! Depends on the size of your pellets on how many you can feed. You can let them soften in water to see for yourself just how much food they yield. 3-4 is usually sufficient.

That being said, it's fine to feed pellets but please also know that bettas love, crave, and prefer variety. So mix it up! They like live bugs the most, since that's their natural prey, but that's not always possible. There is a wide variety of flake, gel, freeze-dried, and frozen foods that your betta will love. Frozen treats, thawed out, are really great. Freeze dried foods should be supplemented with an occasional other food to avoid blockage in the betta’s digestive system.

Re: the ash content --
This is also why pellets cause increasing problems in fish as they become older, causing them to get SBD (swim bladder disorder), when they're on pellet-only diets. But, mixed with variety, they'll be fine and good for nutrition balance.

I believe that blood worms are more of a treat - he probably should be eating betta pellets.

I've had several bettas, most lived over 5 years. I fed them as much of the pellets as they would eat, once every morning. Blood worms as a treat 1-2 times per week.

I feed my Betta when I get up in the morning. You should give it a pinch of freeze-dried blood worms and see if it can eat all of the worms within 5 minutes. If he eats all of them within the allotted time, feed it another pinch. Continue to do so until he can't eat anymore and then remove the excess food from his tank.

You should feed your betta every other day or 3 or 4 times a week. Feed 4-6 pellets or 4-6 bloodworms. They really don't need to eat that much at all. They will be healthier if you refrain from feeding them so much.

If I were you, I would get him some regular betta pellet or granule food, the bloodworms are good as an occassional treat, but they don't contain all the nutrition your betta will need to live and thrive.

I feed my bettas 3-4 pellets every morning when I wake up, their stomach is only about the size of their eye, so you have to be careful to aviod overfeeding which could make your betta sick, or muck up the water.

Only feed once a day fish are not design to eat like humans are... you also need to realize his stomach is only as big as his eye so try to avoid overfeeding as this will dirty your bowl/tank much faster. Freeze dried blood worms are ok but no the most nutritional out there... I used to feed frozen foods to all my fish it was cheaper and more nutritional.... good luck with your fish.

usually, i would feed my betta about 2 blood worms in the morning, and maby 1 during the day, if i was home, and 2 at night.......this gives the betta a spread out meal. he/she will have more energy throughout the day by feeding him this way because if you feed him once in the morning, or at night, he will use up the food energy quickly....hope i helped!!!.....
