Because it's jsut a slogan they use to intimidate anyone who dares to express dissent. The strategy is to try to discredit anyone who criticizes anything the right-wing says by accusing them of being "unfair and based."

But their goal is just that: to intimidate their opponents into silence. The last thing they want is a law that will force them to stand aside and actually allow others a fair opportunity to express contrary views.

Its mostly Christian programming that doesn't want the fairness doctrine. They would be forced to help spread the word of what they view are lies and they believe it would be going against the will of God. The republican party in general doesn't want this because Christian programming is a good tool for them to reach people. Honestly I doubt Rush Limbaugh would mind the fairness doctrine because he would just bring on some weak personality for him to beat up on like they do with Fox News.

nobody parrots anything more than lefties and atheists...that slogan applies to ONE media outlet.

rather the commie "Fairness" doctrine is anything but fair....for every comment a "conservative" makes on talk radio someone should be there to make an opposing point of view?

yeah adolph, none for me thanks!

as if it's any wonder why liberal socialist commie morons can't make it on talk radio. they don't have any intelligent constructive rational thoughts to share....but they love to mock everything they dont' agree with and say stuff like i hope someone shoots the prez etc...such loving caring tollllllllllllllerant and open miiiiiiiiiiiiiiinded folks!

The fairness doctrine is unworkable as long as media is allowed to use rumor as fact. The citing of unnamed sources and fools who have no clue (politicians?), makes it all to easy to seriously bias the news.
Lets see, we will find political extremists with the view we want to present and use them as sources for our stories. We will quote them and then people will believe our rant.
Just for good measure we will put a drop of the truth in to ease our conscience. Who cares if our total presentation is seriously misleading. Bad news is the best news.

Because it is WRONG.

FoxNews tries to be fair and balanced because that is what they advertise. Talk radio does not even attempt to say they are fair and balanced because they are not and don't try to be. Internet political blogs (which are extremely popular with liberals) are not fair and balanced (or even honest) but guess what? THEY ARE ALLOWED TO SAY WHAT THEY WANT. Why are you tryingto take that RIGHT away from the Right? Is it because you don't like the message and you are willing to crap on the Constitution in order to silence them? Where were you when rap music was spewing their obsenities to our children. Oh yeah. You were defending them with the 1st Amendment.

Let me promise you that there will be riots if the UNFairness Doctrine is passed and you lefties succeed at crapping on the Constitution.

The so-called fairness doctrine is the Unfairness Doctrine. We have the First Amendment in the US. I don't want the government telling me who to listen to on the radio.
