Did you know 99% of the deployed troops cheat on their wives?

My friend just came home from overseas and said that almost everyone slept with the foreign women and prostitutes. Are military wives stupid enough to think their man is faithful?

Being in the Marines for 5 years, I can tell you that there are a high number of both sexes that cheat when a deployment occurs. We even had a name for the wives--- west coast widows---meaning that they acted like their husbands had died while on deployment in the Pacific. I have seen many friends come home to an empty house and a "dear john" letter. The fact is that there are many more men on a military base than women. The easy opportunities, lonliness, and stress experienced by the wives has made it easier to cheat. The men, especially if deployed to Thailand, the Phillipines, etc. are lonely too and many have resorted to prostitutes. All this being said, I still think your figure is unrealistic, only reflects on one sex (when both are at fault), and is impossible to prove. Neither side is right and it is a lose-lose situation to act upon any of these impulses.

Well I guess I'm gonna piss a lot of people off with you cause that is true. Even the most moral of people can sink to the lowest levels of immoral acts in the Military. However not only do the husbands cheat but the wives do too while the husbands are deployed. I've seen it happen so many times over that it's almost a guarantee. Most marriages do not survive the stress of military life in itself. A lot of women resent the fact that their husbands are always gone there fore look for the attention else where, while in the guys case well... boys will be boys and the way sexual opportunities present themselves around every corner in the military 99% of the time the guy will eventually take at least one of those opportunities. Our soldiers are brave it has nothing to do with that and I'm sure no one is disputing that fact in the least bit yet fact is fact. Most of them I'm sure have seen it time & time again themselves personally or impersonally & they would most likely agree.

thats a b.s. number. I was in the army for a long time been overseas alot ive spent 7 years overseas all over the world. Some guys and girls cheat yes. probably more often than civillians. reasons are length of time away from spouse. boredom, it gets really boring overseas sometimes depending where you are. also fear. believe it or not. sex is the best cure for fear (and boredom) thats why in every war there is prostitutes. Having said that. Relax ladies and gents if your spouse is in the military they probably dont cheat maybe 5% more frequent in the military. And the guy who posted this question is a dousche for doing so!!!

You should be careful about citing numbers when you know they aren't accurate. You know that 99% isn't accurate! But, yes, I agree that a very large number of military personnel (BOTH sexes) cheat while deployed. The number of women who cheat with their fellow male troops is just as high. It's what happens during times of stress and absence from loved ones.

You should state what nationality you are talking about .

You can not possibly compare the behaviour of say, US troops, to that of UK forces.

In any case, as an ex-serving British soldier, I can assure you that figure is wildly exaggerated, pure fiction. (for any army)

From my experience, British troops deployed overseas do not have the opportunity, the cash to waste, or the desire to mix it with the local tarts. They are generally too busy being the professional soldiers that they are.

This may have had a grain of truth during WW2 where large numbers of bored troops massed in particular area but I don't know of too many postings nowadays where it is even safe to leave the compound let alone risk your life looking for a local slag to help you get infected.

I don't think the rate of infidelity amongst soldiers is any greater than the rate of civvy philanderers.

I am a military wife, and what ever your friend told you wasn't real. When my husband was in the ship, I always meet him to where the ship will be going to stay for a few days, and I have seen most of what they do when they get to different countries. First of all those countries has law and you just don't pick a woman that's working just to have fun. Enlisted men do stay together when they go to bars, Officers sometimes was met by their wife and that includes me.
Our military men will talk big so we will not think less of them, that is all, so I don't think that our troop deserve this from us, not knowing......thank you!!

With the amount of fighting that is going on over there, I find it extremely hard to believe your statement. I also find it very hard to believe that you would imply that military wives are stupid. If you think that your friend is telling the truth, then enlist and go fight for your country and find out the truth. I've been in a battle zone, and I can tell you that there was no time for "getting it on" with the local women. We were too busy trying to stay alive so that you could enjoy your freedom.

As prior Navy, once deployed overseas, I can attest that many married people do cheat overseas. I've seen it with my own eyes. I do NOT, however, think that the % rate is that high.

That makes me nervous..considering my soul mate may soon be deployed. I know it happens..wherever there are bases there seem to be prostitutes..and I'm sure the troops are mentally traumatized and get pressure from their fellow men serving to partake in some activity on the side.

Some military men have weird deals with their wives. When they are overseas, it's like they aren't married. I have lots of military friends and family members.
