I want to go because I think I might have an infection but apparently my parents don't believe me.

Sit down with your mom and explain to her that you are a young women and feel you should go and you want her to go with you. Most doctors recommend the first visit to the gynecologist happen shortly after menstruation begins.
Tell your mom she should be proud of you, most girls are afraid to go even when they need to.

Edit: Perhaps you should show her this site http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/your_body/medical_care/obgyn.html

'The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that girls first see a gynecologist when they're between the ages of 13 and 15. Not all girls will need a pelvic exam during this initial visit, though. Many gynecologists will just do a regular health exam and talk to a girl about her development.'

If it's just an infection around your vaginal area (such as a yeast infection) then you can maybe just get it checked out by your school nurse or by a nurse at your local health department. That way you will know what kind of anti-biotic cream to use. If the infection is in your reproductive organs you do need to see a gynocologist.

How old are you?

Talk to your school nurse. If she sees something wrong they could send a letter from the school that they recommend you go to the doctor to get checked out.

If you are under 18 you can't go by yourself anyway, you'll need their insurance card, signature of consent, among other things.

Why do you need to go? Are you over 18 or sexually active? If not then you don't need to go. If you are over 18, which I am assuming from your question that you are not, then go to a public health clinic in your county. If you are under 18 and sexually active, you should talk to your parents about this, and they will probably be willing to take you. I believe you get better care at a ob/gyn then at a free clinic, as at free clinics, there are no doctors, just nurse practitioners. I always go to a free clinic as I am uninsured.
