How do I know if my hymen is still intact or not?

I'm 15 and i'm still a virgin. I've masturbated and I can fit about 3 to 4 fingers inside. I also use tampons and I'm pretty athletic. How do I know if i still have my hymen or not, besides going to the gyn.?

The hymen is located right at the entrance to your vagina - it's on the outside and you can see it with a mirror, if you still have one - it's like a little wall of thin skin partly covering the opening. Since you can fit so many fingers in, I'd say you either didn't have one to start with (it not uncommon) or you tore it much earlier. I partially tore mine when I was 6 - falling off my bike, and then tore it the rest of the way when I was 10 - masturbating.

Chances are, your hymen is already broken. However, a broken hymen does not indicate a lack of virginity. Athletic girls frequently do not have an intact hymen, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
