One great place to find tonnes of magazines, book publishers, etc. is in Writer's Market. They publish a huge index of all of the magazine publishers and major publishing houses every year. It costs about $30 for the book, I think, but it's a great resource. I've been buying a copy every year for the past 3 or 4 years, and I've found a lot of places to submit as a result.
Also, they only include places that actually pay you for your writing, so you know that if you get accepted by any of the places listed in Writer's Market, you'll be getting paid.
If you can't afford to buy a copy, they probably have at least one in the reference section of your local library.

Most writers say that if you want to writer, then WRITE. The trick is to find someone willing to pay you to write for them. The are some agents who seek submissions, and some magazines that take candidate stories from anyone, but not too many of either kind. Try the library for books on how to sell your work - ask the librarian for help finding one/some. But it is an uphill battle, and prepare your self for many, many rejections before actually selling something of yours.
Good luck.
BTW, how old are you? Have you taken any courses on creative writing? Has anyone else critiqued your work?

You might also want to try various revenue sharing sites. You post your content on there and they'll split the revenue with you (usually 50/50, but it depends on the site).
Since most of them are already getting decent traffic, consistent posts on there could make at least a little money.
Here's a Squidoo lens with a list of a bunch of sites like that:

You'd probably want to look mostly in the "Articles" section of that page.
