which i did.I bought the one that is a mesh and she stays in the

Mollys don't lay eggs, they have live babies. The aren't as bad as guppies, but will eat the babies if they get a good chance and are hungry, so remove her fromt he net as soon as she has the babies.

Having livebearers who are having babies can be a really fun experience! But you do have to protect the young from the parents, else they'll be consumed. If you're seperating the mommy-to-be into one of those mesh things she'll be right there with them and they'll have no hiding place..... so while seperators are a good theory, they're only a half baked idea.... If she has them in there, they need something to hide in to be protected from her. You could, I guess, keep the babies in there after she has them (and yes, seperate her) but they'll be a bit confined.

But if you really wanna do it right, you might want to set up a fry-only tank and put her in there so the babies will have a new home to go to once they're out of her, then you can return her to her own tank to live. That way the babies can grow up safely. They are going to need a lot of rocks, plants, or whatever you can provide for shelter. (Marbles on the bottom are nice.)

If you only have the 1 tank, be sure to put a lot of plants (fake or real) and stuff in there to help improve their survival rate...

If she really seems like she is ready to explode, then, minimize the stress you give out and feed her some live food. Then, after she gives birth, get a small tank for her to rest for about a week. Leave the fry in the breeder mesh you bought. After about a week with the fry in the mesh, put them to the small tank that where the female was.

Decrease the amount of water so they don't have to have swim along way to the top.

Feed them flakes that are mushed up.

No! keep her in there for 1 day, otherwise the male will get her pregnant again. They have babies every month.
About 30.The babies are born alive, NOT EGGS.
