I just dont see how anyone can think that a league of eight teams (including one funded by Maverick's owner Mark Cuban) that tries to directly compete against the NFL in the fall is going to succeed. The idea that people are going to watch Friday night games on TV seems laughable to me, since I would rather watch a game of high school football where you can actually see some passion. The other thing I've heard is that people are worried that talent will get drawn away from the NFL. I just dont see that happening, athletes know that the big bucks are with the NFL.

No because the NFL is where all the talented players are at. The UFL signs low round and undrafted rookies. The NFL has contracts with major TV networks. It has a long history and big following. The UFL cant compete but they can play games during the summer when the NFL is not on. It can survive if they play thier games when the season is over but not when the NFL season starts because its too popular.

The only way the UFL could draw talent away from the NFL is if they offered salaries significantly higher than NFL salaries. If the salaries are about equal, then all the players will still go to the NFL because that's the reputable league, but if the UFL pays players a lot more than the NFL (I don't see how they could do this, but it's possible), then the UFL will indeed draw players away from the NFL.

The NFL has a track record of putting it's competition out of business, see XFL founded by Vince McMahon, and the USFL. Here comes another league that's going to try the same thing? It looks to me like it has a severe uphill climb with a lot of boulders falling it's way.

The NFL is the king of the hill when it comes to professional football. It's going to take a heck of a force to knock it off of it's perch. Especially when most of the cities involved in the NFL are considered "football towns" in Chicago, Green Bay, Baltimore, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Kansas City, Denver, etc. The NYC area also has two teams. There's a lot of die-hard fans pulled from large metro areas with strong interest for their favorite teams.

Most players don’t get the big bucks.
There are many that play mainly for the money and will welcome the opportunity to play elsewhere for MO’ MONEY.
Besides, were I a part of this business venture, I would be doing it just to prove that there are OTHER cities and states where a home football team will be joyously accepted.
And there is a cornucopia of talent out there that want to play but either didn’t get a shot or wasn’t hired, not because they weren’t good enough, but because there simply was no room for them; hence the NFL Europe; AFL; CFL; semi-pro and there will STILL be a plethora of players good enough but not room enough for.
Besides; do you REALLY believe that they want to start a league to COMPETE with the NFL?
We are the NFL.
You will be assimilated.
Your athletic and managerial distinctiveness shall be added to our own.
Resistance is futile.

No it's not a threat. The NFL is so huge. The UFL may get some ratings, but it will not be a threat.
It all comes down to money. The companies that sponsor the NFL will not spend as much money on advertising with the UFL because the veiwer base is weak/unestablished.

Well lets see... AFL merged with the NFL, the USFL and XFL both failed. So the likely hood of the UFL lasting isn't looking to good! Besides even if itdoes get off the ground the players will use it like the NFL Europe just to get noticed to get to the NFL.

This is another ploy to take down the Mighty NFL. It is not going to happen I give the UFL 1 year if it even gets off the ground

There is absolutely no chance the UFL can even dent the NFL's fan base of America! The AFL would probably have more fans than this new league of 8 teams... This league has no chance.

Absolutely not! The NFL is MAJOR and is the #1 for spectators in the United States. UFL won't amount up... just seems like another XFL.
