I have donated my time and money to 5 different charities. I have held doors open for people, let people go in line in front of me,and let them in front of me in traffice. The traffic thing always ends up biting me in the butt, because that person drives terrible. I spend time visiting sick people in homes. If everyone did one nice thing , once a week or a month, would the world change????

It isn't about bragging about them. There are so many mean and nasty people out there. Sometimes you just wonder if there are other nice people out there.

I cut off all my hair and sent it to Locks of Love.
I had my oldest cat put down to end his suffering. That almost killed me. I still hurt and miss him and wish he were here, but he was in pain, so I had to let him go.

I do the regular polite stuff every day, and think nothing of it. My grandma raised me right after my 'parents' ruined me.

LOL no good dead goes unpunished!!!
I have spent the last ten years rehabilitating homeless people and getting them back on their feet. I do this myself, one person at a time, and at my own expense, but I do it for the satisfaction it gives me to be able to see them back on their feet and productive again, so it is really a selfish act. I think if more people would be so "selfish" yeah the world would be a better more productive place.

I don't see the point of bragging about all the good things that you do...are you trying to prove to us that you are a good person?

Edit: I guess I just don't see the point to why people need to tell the world about the good they do. I mean, I do many good deeds for others, but I don't go on here telling everybody how good of a person I am. If I know that I am good, then that is all that matters to me.

I've walked dogs for a local no-kill animal shelter.
I have tutored high school kids to prepare them for the SATs.

Does posting our acts on a site like this no longer make them selfless acts?

I helped an old lady trying to get her car parked between two cars. She was very bad at it so I ended up running around the car, giving directions, waving, and she was sweating and ever more confused. When the car was finally more or less decently parked she opened the window and said : I was trying to get OUT. OUT.

I don't help any old ladies anymore, lol.

I pick up dropped items when I see someone's hands are full.
I give my seat up for the elderly.
I try to hold the door for others.
I always wait to serve myself after everyone else has been served.
I care for my son
I care for my partner
I care for my pets
I care for the rest of my family

It's just being polite.

Talked a girl out of suicide, and spent three days helping someone find a way to afford their first home.
Yes, if we did one nice thing a week, the world would change.
Peace

Well we cut our neighbors lawn every time we cut ours. She is a older single lady and needs the help. ALSO the one day it snowed here we did her driveway.

Comment about posting these things: I think questions like these are good because MAYBE someone will read it and think, "Hey, that is something simple. I can do that." and maybe they will help someone.

Besides this question is as good as, "Where you born gay or did you turn that way?" which gets posts 187 times a day!

I'm a social worker. It's my job to do "selfless" things, so I don't spend a lot of time thinking back on them.

Good for you though.
