If you understand that God is a spirit and that the spiritual aspect is not the flesh, and the men who wrote the book were filled with the spirit of God, and if you would read the book in the realm of the spirit, you will understand that no mere man can span the ages and write the wisdom that is in the Bible. If you are not born of the spirit of God, you cannot understand the living things, because you are spiritually dead. Even the Bible has had mans hand to it and although there are several truths in it it still holds mans mistakes. God can teach you thru anything...so when you are bashing his word, please have the deciency to make sure you have read it in truth first...because if you did, you wouldnt have to ask this question you would already understand.

You are right, men did write the Bible, but it was inspired by God. It was written by many writers who lived in different times and different places and most of whom never met and yet the messages they wrote have all been the same. History itself has proven what the Bible talks about, Archaeologists have proven over and over again the accuracy of the Bible.
The next time an Archaeologist holds up a piece of physical evidence proving the existence of a group of people that was written about in the Bible, tell him he's seeing a mirage...

The short answer: It's in our genes....
The long answer:
Religion and god is as real as the tooth fairy....primitive man needed the 'religious experience' to survive in a hostile universe. The unknown was explained by the supernatural, the idea of an afterlife cushioned people from the grim aspects of death, in short, it was a survival mechanism developed within the temporal lobe of all human brains.
Modern man has developed rational thought and controls much of the environment, to the extent of knowing how 'things operate'. But obsolete genes do not die overnight, therefore you'll always be seeing people believing in religion, god and the supernatural.
I read about some interesting studies by scientists of the temporal lobe regions that are 'mis-firing' or giving off 'unbalanced' neuroligical signals. Some of the studies are intrigueing, they can duplicate 'religious experiences' in blind tests of humans.
It was already known that the more primitive limbic system of our brains contain the raw emotion where our religious beliefs spring forth. The development of the cerebral cortex (or the thinking and rational part of the brain) is only a recent development in humans, say the last 40,000-100,000 years.
It is also well known that the 'god-gene' (for lack of a better description) is triggered during times of duress, high anxiety, near death or starvation, and other high emotional episodes. It was our survival instinct that developed this so-called god-gene. Now, scientists can atificially trigger that response under laboratory conditions by narrowing the focus to the temporal regions of the brain. Further studies are being conducted to study this gene and its effect on our development as a species

Why do athiests insist that Christians think God wrote the bible?
The gospels have names - Mathew, Mark , Luke, John.
They are the people who wrote the Bible.
The other books Leviticus etc are letters from one person to the Corinthians or whatever place.
It's so evident that it's people who wrote the Bible I'm surprised at the stupidity of the question.
Christians don't believe otherwise.
Never make such statements without getting the facts at least close to straight.

First of all, there is no such thing as "blind faith", anymore than there is "reverse discrimination". Have you ever heard of "proven faith"? "Visible faith"? Faith is in defiance of logic, not there to explain things that defy logic. "Faith" is as synonymous with "lie" as "proof" is to "truth". Faith is the opposite of proof, since you cannot have faith if there is proof. If God was standing right in front of a believer, they would HAVE to deny that it was God, or otherwise forego their faith for the proof of God's existence! That's a conundrum I can live my life without.
ANYway, The Bible is considered the "word of God", passed to man. This is a fancy way of saying the Bible can't possibly be wrong, and that God guides every translation so his word never gets mistranslated. Yeah, that's exactly why there aren't over 2,000 different Christian sects who all have varying interpretations. /end sarcasm. If the Bible was so perfect, interpretation should be considered blasphemous by all of them. All I know is, SOMEbody's got it wrong and a whooole lotta people are going to Hell.

Ah this is true, blind faith is the crutch of fools. People believe what they want to believe, if we found out tomorrow that there is definitave proof that there is no god, people would still choose to believe. The bible was created to stop unruly people from killing, raping, and stealing from eachother. It lays down a set of "laws" that scare people into believing with the misguided rational that if they dont there going to a scary dark cold/hot place from which they'll never return.
Dont get me wrong having faith is a great thing, but basing your entire life on it and denying the pleasures of life seems wrong. As long as you dont over indulge whats wrong with a little premarital sex? Whats wrong with experementing with drugs? If you dont test the waters of life how can you truely figure out what you like and ultimatly who you are.

It's the sheep. Some religious leaders insist that God wrote the Bible. It's one of those little acid tests they use to show which ones in their flock are intelligent and which are sheep who will accept what they tell them on blind faith. The sheep are easily shorn, you see. The intelligent ones usually leave for another church.
Another one of those acid tests is the banning of Harry Potter. The faithful sheep don't question it.

we all need something to believe in(blind faith) wether its a high being who controls the world and everything in it to the belief of nothing, which is still a belief. it is human nature to believe that somthing higher than a human force is driving your life or somone elses i a direction be it good or bad and while some beliefs may have crazy theorys about what happen and who did what to make the world what it is, it is still that driving human need to have an idea of where the world came from

Everyone is entitled to their delusions. I try never to dissuade them from that until they ask. Then I point out that God is not essenstial to the creation or the operation of the universe. If something is not essential to existance, then it cannot exist.

it's all how you look at it,
man wrote it from hearing the words of GOD and yet some say it was writen by GOD before he died,
so it's all what you think and how you look at it.
