I came here to answer this Question by following Debbie's link. I was amazed to see the Answer of 'towanda' above. I have never found so much similarity in my personal trait than what towanda described about her.

Anyway, here is my response. I'm mostly the guy who takes Lead in most of the settings where things are apparently not 'moving'. Sometimes I had to pay price for being the leader that I would accept as part of the process or as they call job-hazard.

I'm a pretty good follower too. I do provide secretarial and logistics support to my team leader when I'm a follower, exactly the way I would expect my follower to help me and the team when I'm the leader.

Some of the times I got out of the way to limit the loss.

Thanks for reminding me of my favorite quote which I first read in Time magazine when it reported that CNN Chief Ted Turner had this slogan prominently displayed in his office room above his chair on the wall. Very meaningful indeed!

I prefer to lead and it was very difficult for me to learn to work in groups. I'm a very hard worker and seemed to get stuck with people with much less ambition. I've learned to step back and watch a little more before sticking my neck out. That's an entirely different category. My biggest problem is that I never get out of the way. I'm one of those that will face a problem straight in the face. With maturity I have learned that direct confrontation does not get you what you want. Usually that makes you just butt heads. I've learned to soften my approach but you will always know that I am there and I will work toward my goal. I run my own business but in volunteer work I have learned to discuss ideas and feed them to the leader. They can have the credit as long as the job gets done. Is that manipulating or delegating? Who cares.

I lead, just my personality. But I prefer that a woman walk next to me and not behind me.
