I had my second sonogram at 17 weeks and the baby was very active. Every time he/she had its legs open, the technician would turn the sonogram camera around to find out what the baby was and the baby would hurry and close its legs. Is there any other way of figuring out the sex of the baby? My fiance and I would really like to know, so we can plan some more.

Well, yeah through an ultrasound... you don't have to go to your doctor though for one. I actually took it upon my self to go to one of those sonogram places...it cost like 99$ but you get a bunch of pictures and they tell you 100% what the sex is. I found out at 16 weeks, so if you really want to know you can try to find ultrasound places in your area!

Only two ways to find out for sure - ultrasound and birth. Everything else (how you are carrying, how fast your hair grows, you name it) is just guess work and old wive's tales. If you are not going to be scheduled for another ultrasound through your health plan (and you won't be if your pregnancy looks "normal"), then you could always go to a private 4D ultrasound place - I swear those places are everywhere. It will cost you anywhere from $75 to $200 dollars out of pocket to go depending on the "package" you buy. Good luck and congrats!

You could undergo amniocentesis.

EDIT:

Looking at this part again:
"Every time he/she had its legs open ... the baby would hurry and close its legs"
sure sounds like a girl to me! :^)

Wait until the baby is born to find out the sex. It is an amazing experience and one you won't regret.

If your stomach is round and high it's a girl. If it's low and pointy with your belly button poking out it's a boy.

YOU COULD ALWAYS ASK FOR ANOTHER ULTRASOUND TO BE PERFORMED AT A LATER TIME. OTHER THAN THAT YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT TILL YOU GIVE YOU BIRTH.
