Shows very little ambition or that you are extremely unlucky!. And I guess we want successful people around us.

I think it's because people like to have other people around them who are more like them - who have as many things as possible in common with them.
The person you describe is clearly in a minority group, and that is why most people would prefer to have nothing to do with him. Sad but true. That's human nature.

my fella had nothing when we met as he had ambitions of having his own roofing business and 13 years later at the age of 29 he has done it and he has everything he wants and we have had some tough times but we made it and one day you will too !!
