Which country? In England, "Henry" was pretty popular, for obvious reasons. William, John and Edward were all popular royalty names. Personally, I like "Rupert" (it's so odd!), but it's more Germanic.

Surveying various European dynasties during the 16th century, it looks like Charles (Carlos), Henry (Enrique), and Philip (Felipe) were the most commonly used names for a prince who eventually became king:
------Spanish and Holy Roman Emperor princes and dukes ruled under the names Charles (Carlos), Philip (Felipe), and Ferdinand.
------Portuguese princes included Manuel, John, Sebastian, Henry, Anthony, and Philip (Felipe).
------French princes were named Francis, Henry, and Charles.
------English princes who eventually became kings were named Henry and Edward.
------Scotland had a long run of rulers named James (I--V) during the Middle Ages.
So how about Charles Philip Henry James?

I don't know. I like the name James. Although it might not be for England at that time, I like it.
