Well, the way it works is that the body is infused with a soul upon conception. Death is the separation of the body and soul and is inevitable. After dying, your soul can go to one of three places: Heaven, hell or purgatory. If you die in a state of grace, you go to Heaven. If you have some sins weighing you down, you go to purgatory to atone from them and move onto Heaven when you are done. If your misdeeds are so horrible that you are beyond any kind of redemption, you go to hell. Now, there aren't too many people who would fall into the third category. So, if you know you're going to Heaven, either straight away or after doing your penance, you should not worry about death. But, since we are human, we have a tendency to remain attached to worldly things and fear dying. I think what I would worry about is leaving my small children without a mom. But I wouldn't fear it for my own sake. I don't think one should actively seek death, but one should embrace it when it comes.

I have always said that death has to be the same as not being born but I think it's just that you will miss the people and memories that you have created throughout your life and that's why some people are uncomfortable with it.

The answer depends on people's beliefs. True and faithful Christians do not fear death. See scripture:

2Cor.5
[8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

I'm not afraid of death - just the pain of dying!
"I'm not afraid of falling out of an airplane without a parachute - just the landing!"
Yet the Metaphysicals say that "Death is easier than being born."

Because you didn't know about life before you were born but you know about death and you see it all around you.

Because most people don't want to leave their families. It's an establishment of sorts. You may know no different but your family and friends will.
