Comets and common goldfish get around 6-12in not including fins, these are often sold as feeders and need a min 40g for the first and 20g for every additional one. If it is a fancy goldfish then it needs min of 20 for the first and 10 for each extra. Goldfish are cold water and do not require a heater. They are very, very messy fish and need good filtration and proper tank size to live out their full lifespan. They are very social, I suggest getting 2, that is not mandatory though. The life span of a goldfish is about 30 years.

They like having gravel and rock formations. Add some plants too. Make sure nothing has sharp edges and rinse the gravel well.

Because of the vast amount of ammonia that a goldfish puts out, a small bowl is NOT the best. A betta is fine in a 1-gallon, but not a goldfish. A 10 gallon tank or larger would be suitable to start off with, but as mentioned they can grow larger. Plus, the more water you have, the less harsh that the negative effects will have on the fish...

A pond is the best habitat for goldfish since they can grow to be will over 6 inch from the tip of the noise to the base of the tail ( not including the tail ). If you can not put them in a pond I would strongly suggest a tank over 30 gallons. Normally goldfish grow to be about 12 inches in size.

Nothing smaller than a 10 gallon tank. Depending on the species goldfish can get VERY big. You should have about 2 gallons of water for every inch your goldfish grows. Most get to be at least 6 inches which means they actually need 12 gallons of water.

Change 10% of the water once a week and 25% once a month. You should also have a strong filter as goldfish are very dirty.

Either a very large tank with a good filtration system, or a pond with a filtration system.

Goldfish need a larger habitat than other fish due to their fouling the water more than other fish their size.

If Mr. goldfish is in a tank, you will need to do partial water changes every week.

Also goldfish can live many years and grow to be quite large.

A pet goldfish? A pond, or a tank.

If you don't rent, definately look into something outside like said before, a nice pond. If you can't do that, you are going to have to go with a large, colorful and stimulating tank.

Well I would say.. water. Lol but put it in a big enough tank for it to have room to swim wherever it wants to. Put rocks at the bottom and if it's a big tank a water filter, but if it's a small tank just clean it every once in a while. And put a castle or something in it.

if you want it to b a pet, put it with another fish of it's kind in a tank and have real seaweed and filters and heaters, also a little house like thing to make it feel like it lives in a sea.
