Water damage restoration is not just as simple as putting a blower in the hallway and plugging it in. Your property needs to be managed properly to make sure that the process has no setbacks or complications. There are definite steps to make the restoration go correctly and must be completed for the project to be a success.

Humidity levels are a major factor in water damage restoration and controlling the temperature inside the structure is vital for ultimate success.

This also makes it impossible for millions to get diagnosed and medical help for the simple reason that most do not understand why they even became sick in the first place.

These are the reasons that this new industry seems to be thriving. To help educate the people on how they can protect their life and their families from this silent killer and destroyer.

I lived in an apartment where the commode overflowed twice a year. My child who was five at the time developed asthma. When we moved he was 11, and very soon after wards he got over the asthma. I think it is a hidden danger. You can't see it so you are not that aware of it.
I don't know how things are in California but I would get on the apartment manager right away for a new carpet and better yet another apartment. I live in Texas and I fought with my manager over this all the time. My apartment complex was owned by a very famous retired football player. And it was a cheap, cheap, cheap ran apartment.

Mold can bother those sensitive to it but you would probably already know if that was you. Dry the carpet quickly and you should have no mold problem.

the wet dry vac will suck up the water but the carpet and pad will still need to air dry, tell the maintenance man that you want the carpet pulled up from the edges and fans put under the carpet to let it dry. tell him that it need to be done or the carpet backing will release from the fibers and he will be replacing the carpet in your unit because of the wrinkles that will pop up he should be willing to do this and he should also have the carpets professionally cleaned if not go to the housing authority in your area and they will make sure that it is done for you.

If this is sewage you need to have the padding pulled, carpet dryers installed and the carpeting treated with a disinfectant and cleaned. This also applies to the floor. If it is clean water, extraction, dryers, and mildicide should do.

The only thing that you can do is keep an eye on things, perhaps alert the city authorities (City health dept) that this his happening and that you have health issues. This way...you have done your homework, everyone is alerted to the problem. The rest is a waiting game.
