Port Haron, Michigan or around that area? I know that it's around Flint, Detroit and close to the US and Canada border. What are some fun things to do around that area? I'm going up there next month to see my family.

Having been born, raised and currently living in Port Huron, maybe I can help.

Next month is the Port Huron to Mackinac Boat Race. Boat night--the night before--is party night. Thousands of people in a four block area. Small carnival for the kiddies, Thomas Edison Museum, coast guard cutter to tour, large maritime museums, Casino in Sarnia, across the river but figure minimum two hours to cross the bridge--typical for summer.

The best place (I think) to hang out is the Raven Coffee House on Main Street. Coffee is the last legal high, you know. See their website. A club for teenagers on the corner of Michigan and Fort Streets. And lotsa lotsa bars of all types.

Oh yeah--beaches and a state game area.

One more thing--Doc Holladay is wrong. This is the boyhood home of Tom Edison. He was born elsewhere.

Wow, you're way off. Port Huron is over an hour away from both of these places. Although true, it's across from Canada. if you're coming from Indiana or something, take I-69 all the way into Michigan and folllow it route until it ends. IF youre somewhere in Wisconsin, Minneasota, Illinois, or anywhere in a state border Canada, Take I-94 all the way to the end (through Detroit).

I've been there. If you like nature and swimming and small-town stuff, then you'll love it. It's a beautiful area for camping and hiking, and Lake Huron has a great beach. There is a decent mall in Port Huron and your everyday stuff that everyone has: museums, clubs, parks, bars, movies, bowling, or whatever you like, but not like what you find in a bigger city. There is also a bridge to Canada if you've never been. That is about it from what I recall.

I've been to Port Huron once but Sarnia, Ontario several times which is quite boring.
