My parents are concerned that the Chevy Corvette is mde completely out of fiberglass, I think its steel coated with fiberglass. Which is it? Also will fiberglass protect you adequately from accidents?

The stock Corvette body is constructed from dozens of press molded individual fiberglass panels that are bonded together.

Under the fiberglass body is a steel 'birdcage' which is essentially a roll cage which you are housed in.

Unlike the Corvette, GM 'other' fiberglass car, the Pontiac Fiero (which I owned) had a honeycombed steel base which the fiberglass was molded to.

Either one, going up against a 'steel' car (which there really aren't that many left), YOU'RE GONNA LOSE!

The body is fiberglass, the frame is steel. The best protection from accidents is being a defensive driver you can get hurt of killed in any car

It's fiberglass, but it doesn't much matter what it is made of. If you drive like a maniac, you will still kill yourself.
