Im sure its not going to happen that way, but it does seem a little hypocritical. If you keep out McGwire and Sosa because of steroids you have to keep Bonds out too. Either all 3 go in the Hall of Fame or none of them do.

That argument about Bonds being different because he was a hall of famer before steroids isnt valid because a) you dont know how the rest of his career would have gone w/o roids and b) you dont know exactly when Bonds started taking stuff

By the way...for the people saying that HGH or steroids or anything like that weren't illegal then so it shouldnt matter. There is a difference between not being illegal and not being tested. Steroids were always illegal...even before testing for it they were still illegal. Not to mention they were also illegal according to a little thing I like to call the federal government

1. McGwire used steroids for all but two years of his career and should not be allowed to get in period.

2. Sosa has not tested or has been caught using anything. All people have done is speculate that he used and don't have proof to show that he did. The hall has no reason to keep him out.

3. Bond used for a short time "unknowingly" according to him.
That staement alone could be the reason he gets in to the hall. And if that is the case he will get in.

Well like the person before me said Bonds was an all around good player. But he did take steoids which should keep him out forever.

Mcgwire had a great career of hitting tho. It's not like Bonds or Sosa when one day he just started hitting for power. He was hitting before all that steroid controversy.

So if they don't even consider Mcgwire for that (i'm not saying he deserves to be in with just his numbers, i'm talking about how they automatically shunned him because of steroids), then they shouldn't even consider Bonds.

The same exact situation with Rose too. He had a great career, it's just what happened after his career.

That's an interesting question. I think a lot of people who vote for the HOF would keep him out just because he was unfriendly to the media and was accussed of using steroids. On ColdPizza today, Skip went ballistic about how people were blinded by the number 600 (Sosa's career number of HRs). If Sosa gets into the HOF just because he has 600 HRs, then McGwire and Bonds might get in, just because people are so obsessed with the homerun. So all 3 just might eventually get in.

McGwire has been on one ballot (which was easily predictable as being harsh to him; 2008 will be much more informative), and Sosa and Bonds are years away from initial consideration.

We don't know -- no one does -- what the writers will do. Anyone can speculate, predict, or guess (with, as is usual for this sort of rot, zero accountability), but no one KNOWS.

So it's a rather pointless exercise.

Using steroids is not illegal. Manufacturing, trafficking, distributing, possessing, without proper licenses or prescriptions, are. But using is not. And such issues are a matter for the relevant district attorney, not the commissioner.

It's funny how before that inquiry, nobody wanted to believe nor hear anything about McGuire using steroids - even though Canseco laid it out to everyone, nobody would believe anything bad about McGuire. In fact, if McGuire hadn't come out and told on himself, I still think that people would be saying things like, "Big Mac has always been big" or" he's not that type of guy".

As far as Sosa, it has all been a matter of speculation. No solid proof at all - not before nor after that congressional hearing.

With Bonds, everyone was hoping that something would surface about him - and of course, the grand jury made sure that this info was leaked - and as you see, nobody has been punished for that.

Bottom line, if none of these guys have broken any baseball rules under the NOW existing baseball law, then leave them alone

Bonds is no power hitter. Without the juice he was nothing. It took him 10 years to have his first 40 HR season.

McGwire was a natural...49 home runs as a rookie. Mac is the greatest power hitter ever to play the game. When he did take a substance - it was LEGAL and he admitted to it.

Bonds isn't half of what McGwire is. I don't say that because Bonds is Black - I am a great fan of Ken Griffey Jr. Bonds is a no class, no style, cheating primadona, who feels entitled and treats everyone like crap. He is a poor role model and should be thrown out of the game.

First of all, McGwire did andro - an over the counter suppliment legal in baseball at the time. Plus he hit 49 homers as a rail-thin rookie (and didn't play the first few weeks of the season!) They are only pissed at him because he wouldn't snitch. Sosa did steroids AND corked his bat. They will probably all get in. They will have to re-model first, so the doors will be wide enough to fit Bonds' head through.

Bonds and Sosa are in a completely different league than McGwire. His testimony in front of Congress basically destroyed all hope of him entering the HOF. Bonds and Sosa haven't been found guilty of anything really, other than Sosa corking his bat, so they are innocent until proven guilty. (I do think that they did use steroids, especially Sosa because of his decline after steroids began being tested for more prominantly.)

No they won't keep bond out because his nubers are twicw as good as either mcgwire or sosa's. They should though anyone who hits 35 then puts on 40 lbs anf starts cracking 80 homeruns should be banned from baseball. It really isn't just suspicions beacuse what he did would not be possible unless he was on steroids.

McGwire didn't make it because of his comments about not wanting to talk about the past. Sosa doesn't have the numbers. Bonds shouldn't because of the steriods.
