No. I am a Conservative when it comes to spending and social issues and i am some what scared of the so called socialized insurance. Who would be entitled to receive it? If it is everyone in the US there are many who would not help to pay into the system (lazy, under the table workers, illegals, drug dealers, etc) but would be utilizing it. If the track record of socialist type programs doesn't explain why it is a bad idea then you may want to take a look at social security, education, or welfare again. The government is not able to balance the budget on any other program but most are not as big of a threat to life as is medical treatment. I am betting you have used the DMV or had a tax return now if it took that long to get a doctor would that be OK with you.
I don't want to pay for every ones health I just can't afford it but I am willing to pay for my family.

Couple of random points:
1. My great aunt was an American citizen who was married to a Canadian for 20+ years. After he died, she remained in Canada (where she had few friends and no other family) in order to take advantage of their 'inferior' medical system. She received EXCELLENT care there up until the time she died at the ripe old age of 83. Much better than she would have received here.
2. We have socialized medicine in the United States for over 1 million healthy and active individuals...it's called the medical system of the US Military. In my 4 years of active duty, I saw the doctor numerous times, had two minor surgerys (both with overnight stays), cavaties filled (in my teeth! get your head out of the gutter!), and even had my eyes checked. If I were still in, I would be getting Lasic surgery.
I don't really think that the Canada model is the answer to our health care woes, but at the same time, I don't think that the plans I have seen from the Republicans is the answer, either. Bush has suggested putting health care in the hands of the consumer and letting them use savings accounts and negotiating their own care...I'm sorry, I don't have the time to call 3-4 different doctors to negotiate the best price for everything that's wrong with me. At the same time, doctor's offices don' thave time to receive a hundred calls a day from consumers who are price shopping...It's not like buying a car.
I am lucky enough to have a good insurance plan through my employer, but no matter what we do, not everyone will be as lucky as me. Big box retailers, who used to be one of the best companies to get insurance out of are making hte majority of their workforces part time in order to not have to provide insurance. The poor and uninsured in this country cause costs to go up due to the fact that they get seen through our network of emergency rooms, and then cannot pay the bill, forcing hospitals to write the cost off.
It's a mess, yes. But automatically saying that the government has no role in fixing the mess is just not the right answer, either.

It is socialized medicine. Do some research before you post a question.
By definition Socialized medicine is "A government-regulated system for providing health care for all by means of subsidies derived from taxation."
When the government pays for everything through taxes it is socialized.
Ever wonder why people in Canada come to the U.S. for medical care. It is because their system is in shambles. They have to wait 4-5 months for a CAT scan.
Socialized insurance is socialized medicine there is no difference. Doctors in Canada get paid by the government not by citizens so yes they do work for the government!

If Canada has such a great system, and socialism is working so well there, why do people flock by the thousands to America to get care here?
It is a GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. I dont want the government to control anymore of my life then they already do. I am tired of Government control.
I cant afford more tax. I am sick of paying for deadbeats to sit on the couch and collect entitlements from working Americans.
Our healthcare system needs help... but socializing it will only ruin the best healthcare system in the world.

The Doctors in Canada are dictated through Socialized insurance as to what they'll get paid per procedure, correct?
Perhaps that's why they lack specialists?

Socialism is Socialism, it's evil in all its forms. Who cares if it's socialized health care, insurance, retirement, charity, etc.? It's all immoral, inefficient, and just plain evil. Just so no to slavery.

Then why does the Government Tax you so high for "Free Medical" Insurance? Where do these Taxes go if not to pay for Doctors?
So, you pay all those Taxes, and they DON'T spend it on Doctors????

It's not to scare people, but to enlighten them. The plans that Hillary had in the '90s was indeed socialized mediicine. It is yet another step towards turning this country into a socialist nation, just like Hillary and the rest of the libs want.
