It's a long way off, but I should probably see about it right now. I'm an 14 year old alto, 4'11, brown hair. I have an okay range but I do have a weak upper register.

What is Madeline's Christmas (The Musical)? What is the range of Madeline? The local community theater is doing it and I want to try out. What's against me is that I have a mature sounding voice and it's pretty low.

I've played Snoopy in YAMCB, Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods, and Joy in R+H's Cinderella. Am I suitable for this part?

And what should I sing?

I'm thinking....

- "Tommorow" from Annie (I don't like that idea/song.)
- "I Know Things Now" from INTW.

But I'm not feeling either on of those.

The auditions are about a month away, but I was just thinking about it early. xD.

Thanks.

- AC.

I've never heard of this being done on stage, if it's what I think it is it's a children's book / cartoon by Ludwig Bemelmans. Madeline would need to speak and sing with a French accent, but not so much that no one can understand you. Please double check as I do not want to give you the wrong information! The books and even the videos are available through the library for check out, but like I said please make sure this is the correct story before going forward with this line of research. If it is, I would say to sing:

Dites Moi from South Pacific
You can sing it with the french lyrics as it is done in the show or you can look up the English lyrics (Tell Me Why) and sing it with a French accent.

You could also try:
The Girl I Mean To Be - Secret Garden (but you don't have to sing it forlorn)
Getting To Know You - King & I (Very Madeline in my opinion)
Tender Shepherd - Peter Pan
The Kite - Charlie Brown

Good luck!
