The problem with the concept of Heaven as your "eternal reward" is the idea of reconciling "eternity" with "activity". Is there ANYTHING right now that you would want to do forever? Of course not. I can't even finish a pint of Haagen Daaz ice cream at one sitting, no matter how good it is. So for you to "enjoy" Heaven, two ideas are possible; 1). There has to be an infinite number of things to do and experience, or 2). Your personality is altered in such a way that you don't care about anything except "being happy", whatever that means. This may sound like a false dilemma, but it's not.

It comes down to free will. Believers in the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Bahai Faith, etc.) will tell you that God gives us free will, to let us make our own choices. God does not want robots. This, we are told, will get us in to Heaven, provided we "do God's will". Since God's will doesn't have a problem with us enjoying Nintendo or eating cheeseburgers, you can do that and still get in to Heaven.

So once you get in to Heaven, where are all the cheeseburgers? If being who I was got me in to Heaven, shouldn't I still be the same person? If I am going to be reunited with family and friends, are they going to be the same people I knew, or are they going to be smiley-faced zombies?

If you ask me, Heaven sounds scarier than Hell!

Imagine the alternative to having nothing to do for eternity and being dull and boring. Once you imagine the alternative think of all the terrible things, both in actions and thoughts, you can do to insure that you are never bored, or faced with eternal dullness upon the death of your body in this dimension of life. Nice try at a mental exercise. Mental being the "key" word here.

Heaven is like a break room....and you don't know how you got there....you can play ping pong, watch TV, eat your lunch, talk to friends......then eventually, they call for you on the loudspeaker to report to the office. That's always something to worry about. At the office there is a judge, a psychologist, a social worker and a serious looking boss at a desk. They are there to help you decide what situation you would like to reincarnate into....in order that you can continue your education....it's called Karma. If you can't decide, and you want to stay and watch more TV, it doesn't happen because you are put to sleep like Rip Van Winkle and are reborn in another body on the Earth. So see ? Heaven or Nirvana, is never boring. Peace to all.

I don't think it would be boring, as Heaven is a state of bliss, love & all that is good. Boredom seems more like a punishment than a blessing. Bliss & joy come in many, many flavors & Heaven could reveal a variety of wonderful flavors that are currently beyond our imaginings.

i believe in God and stuff, but i share your opinion. i think that hapiness, peace and all the good things can only be appreciated when you know the sadness, the war and the evil.
staying in heaven for eternity and being happy all the time will be probably worse than the hell. that's why i choose to believe that there is something else than heaven after death, like another life(reincarnation) or a parellel universe.

Not at all.

For me, heaven is the stage. I can spend eternity putting on show after show, resting when I want, for an audience that enjoys the performance.

Heaven is not "doing nothing".

It's doing what you love doing, forever.

Sounds so boring and uninteresting that you'd have nothing to live for. But, then again, you're dead. I'd rather be bored in heaven than tortured in hell.

lol I was thinking just the same thing recently, but if God promised us something so amazing then I guess it will be the best. Besides it sounds a lot more inviting than hell.
