well, first i'm not changing how its spelled. and seems its about half and half on how people would pronounce it. i can deal with that. we are pronouncing it MY-YA.

it sound cute either way, my-ah or me-ah so theres not problem there. i know that my name is pronounced wrong all the time and it drives me crazy, just make sure to tell people how its pronounced. best of luck!

I would pronounce it Mee-ya if I saw it written down. If you want it pronounced like that, use Mia. If you want it pronounced like My-uh, spell it Mya. Maybe YOU can handle half the people around mispronouncing it, but will your poor daughter be able to as well?

I would pronounce it My-yah

I like the spelling Mya better because I don't really see the point to the extra i before a y. But if you still want it there, its no big deal - just makes the name look more unusual :)

MY-YUH If that is what you are going for I think Maya would be a better spelling. Obviously it will get mistaken for either or with that spelling. But she's your baby so anyway you want to spell it I think you should do. Some people are so dumb anyway they will get it wrong. I can answer my phone at work with my name and they still say "hi sherry", yeah that's not what I just said! Ha!

Looking at what others wrote I think it is safe to say there are going to be issues.

I myself would pronounce it

MY YA
