Heartbreak.

Sometimes things happen that are so heartbreaking to you that you're never the same. In my case, my son got spinal menengitis when he was 2. It left him handicapped. I never, ever got over it and still grieve about it today... 30 years later. Not that I sit and dwell on it, but once in a while I still think about how his life would have been.

I think I died a little inside when that happened. What I mean by "died inside" is that a little piece of my life was gone, the joy of my child as he was, the loss of him as he was... the sadness at what was lost. sigh
