When you don't know the sex of the baby, then you don't buy pinks or blues. The colors more likely are white, yellow, light green, light brown, biege. These colors can be matched or mixed. Example. A white and yellow layette set.
Also buy for both. There are sets for a boy or a girl. Booties, socks, bath sets come for both and in a variety of colors that are not just blue and pink.
Avoid ruffles, ribbons, bows and lace. Some sets for a boy or girl come with simple ribbons and bows to tie, but do not exagerate like big bows or big silky ribbons.
Baby blankets come in many ranges of colors and textures that are for both sexes. Some diapper brands comes for him or her. Avoid them fo now and get for new born. There are diappers that both sexes can use. Best of wishes

we are doing a baby shower at work and the gal is 8 months and she doesn't know either. I working on a baby basket, using various ribbons such as blue, yellow, pink green orange. Then I'm adding a rubber duck to match with any rubber duck thing that I can find. Most people would pick green and yellow, but I would rather have fun and do anything that would match a boy or girl. (have fun)

yellow and green are the best unisex colors, neutrals are good too, but they tend to be very light and stain alot. MAybe wait a few weeks unitl you know the sex of the baby?

Pale green, pale lemon, off white, white, and possibly various shades of blue? You could always add a feminine accessory if the baby ends up being female. For example, a shall, or girly shoes/socks.

I think yellow and green are good if you don't know the gender of the baby. Once you find out you should either stick with pink or blue.

For a new baby, nothing beats white to be honest! They all look cute in it!

Lemon is another.
