When I was pregnant with my first child the prenatals from the obgyn made me sick so I was paying $50 at the health food store every month for "whole food" vitamins that my doc said were 5x better than the ones he prescribed.

Now I'm trying to get pregnant again and went to buy them and they're now $70 for one month. Anyone know a brand thats good??? These ones were "Perfect Prenatal" by new chapter found in health food stores.

Well, my sister is pregnant now and was having taking prenatal vitamins because they were making her sick. Her OBGYN told her to start taking B-6 and children's vitamins to substitute. It has worked great for her! You should ask your OB what he/she thinks about switching to that.

The morning sickness will go away soon, and is most likely the cause of why you're getting sick when you take prenatal vitamins. Personally, I didn't take any prenatal vitamins 16 years ago, and my son was as healthy as an ox. You just need to eat right. Prenatal vitamins are just another capitalistic way to support drug companies.

I couldn't take any pre-natal type vitamins, they all made me vomit. What I ended up taking was the Viactiv chocolate chewable multi-vitamins and then an iron supplement, because those vitamins don't contain any iron. They aren't pre-natal vitamins, but the high doses in the pre-natals were what was making me sick and I was losing weight rather than gaining. After switching to the Viactiv the sickness went away and my baby is now 5 months old and very healthy. She was 7lbs 5 oz when born and had no health problems at all. So, as long as you're eating well, I really believe that regular multi-vitamins are good enough. But, that's just my opinion and I am not a doctor.

have you tried take the cheaper prenatal vitamins (from the docs office or walmart or somewhere) at night before you wen to sleep? This usually helps the sick feeling because your sleeping and not able to notice teh harshness of it. Just a suggestion.

Another suggestion was to take Flinstone Vitamins..yep...the kids ones...just double up the dosage, and then take a folic acid pill. Way cheaper than the vitamins you mentioned...although more expensive than the cheap prenatals.

My doc told me it was okay to do when I was pregnant.

most prenatals are all the same, and most will make you sick!!! I asked my dr what to do, since i couldn't keep them down at all, he said to take a childrens vitamin and a folic acid suppliment until I felt better, then take any brand of prenatal I could afford. So I now take the store brand, since the rx would cost $50

I used Melaleuca, they have a 90% or higher absorption rate so they do not constipate or make you nauseas. They are only $14.99 a month. It is a preferred membership to order online. Request info. at www.behometoo.biz and just put prenatal vitamins in the comment section and I will get you set up to order if you would like :) I spent my first pregancy so sick and my second was a breeze with these prenatals. :)

I went through 5 different prenatal vitamins ranging from 17dollars to 34dollars, and i hated them one day i was on a message board and someone told me to try the prenatals at walmart so i was like hmmmm the bottle is like 7bucks and I figured I might as well try them, i have nothing to lose so i did and ILOVED THEM!! I asked my Dr about them and she said they are perfectly fine... The best thing about them was they are SMALL and I had No side effects at all!!!! you can buy them in small bottle and large!

I tool them and I had a healthy 8lb 6 oz baby girl!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I also have a senstive stomach and I was unable to take prenatal vitamins. My doctor told me to take 2 Flintstone's with Iron chewables instead. I took them with each of my 4 pregnancies and have 4 healthy children. They certainly cost a lot less then what you were paying.

You can always search them out on the internet, sometimes amazon.com has good deals.

As for not getting sick...totally dependent upon your pregnancy. Some people can't stomach them, some can do it just fine. Many a woman has had to resort to Flinstone's, which is perfectly fine. You don't have to overvitamin yourself with the best so long as you eat right and are receiving all the nutrients needed.
